Santa Fe Springs: Joseph Maier Killed in Accident Involving Semi

Last Wednesday, January 4th, 48-year-old Joseph Maier, of La Mirada, was killed in an accident involving a semi in Santa Fe Springs. While working at the Superior Grocers warehouse in the 1500 block of Carmenita Road, Maier was crushed against a loading dock when a semi backed up into him. He was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are investigating the industrial accident, explains a California personal injury lawyer.

In 2010, there were a total of 4,547 fatal workplace injuries in the United States, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. While accidents involving transportation decreased from 2010 to 2009, accounting for nearly 2 out of every 5 fatal work-related injuries, non-highway incidents involving pedestrians rose by 4 percent.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Joseph Maier, the man who was killed in the accident involving the semi last Wednesday.
